Random Sunday

So this is going to be a really random post, but I need to vent, as I am finding I get so frustrated with the little things. So most of you know, I was hired as a speech teacher at the Moapa Elementary, but have not been able to start. So here goes the venting: First, I sent in my application to Clark County School District over 3 months ago. I had an interview and was hired by the Speech Dept, but cannot work until my application is completely processed. I have provided them with all the paperwork I can at this point, and I am just waiting on them to do whatever it is they do so I can start work. When I asked the HR Dept what was taking so long, this is what they told me, --Your file is in the process of approval for hire. When your file is complete you will hear from Clark County School District-- pretty much angers me every time I read it. I am just speculating at this point, but I think I am waiting on a background check. Its now been six weeks since I was fingerprinted so who knows what is really going on. I can't imagine a background check is whats holding this whole thing up, I mean the worst thing I have ever done was become a cougar.

Secondly, our cute little puppy has turned into a pit bull and goes around biting everything, the couch, cords, remotes, shoes, clothes and anything within his reach. This includes Trav and I. I can no longer sit on the floor without being attacked. He loves to sneak up now and attack when your not suspecting it. For example if you are sitting down on the floor he will sneak up behind and bite you on the back (yep the middle of the back) then run. I have tried to play other games like fetch but I guess biting and inflicting unnecessary pain is the best game of all.

Thirdly we have been busy visiting family this last week and I forgot to buy milk and bread, so our Sunday dinner has been blah. Which basically means there was no mac-n-cheese or orange julius. And lastly, and this is the kicker, yesterday at a garage sale, I bought a 3-hole-punch for $2.00. I found out today it doesn’t work. Both Trav and I have tried to fix it, but the spring is just too messed up. Seriously who sells a broken 3-hole-punch, you’re supposed to throw that in the garbage people. I just feel like this is everything that is wrong with America, and I want my $2.00 back.

I could really use an orange julius to brighten my day.

Flex vs Door Stop

Apparently, the best toys are free. Flex loves to play with the door stop, and I love that it keeps him occupied. The great thing about this new toy is there isn't a whole lot of damage he can do to it.

video

If he isn't biting the door stop, he is attacking your feet as you walk around the house. It would be cute if his teeth wern't so sharp. He keeps us pretty busy and I am sure there will be alot more videos of him posted in the future.

Flex

This
is my new little guy Flex. His name fits him perfectly, he is my little force-flex stretchable trash bag. For only being 7 weeks, he consumes everything in site, which includes a preying mantis, several really gross looking bugs and one plastic thingy that he found in the backyard. Keeping icky things out of his mouth, has become my new full time job.

We got him this past Monday, and so far we've been working on peeing outside, and coming when we call him. I am so proud because this morning he went to the door three times and whined so I would let him out, however as soon as it got kinda hot, he decided it wasn't worth it, and I had to fight him to go outside. He really hates peeing in the heat.

He is still working on coming when we call. He gets preoccupied with other things, like the mysterious door stop that springs back and forth.

I love all his sleeping positions, they can't be very comfortable. Notice the bed right next to him, he usually sleeps by it, not in it.

playing with his toys, he has some sharp little teeth

exploring at the park

He loves to be right next to you, touching you at all times

He fits right in with Trav

Fighting with the mysterious door stop, it literally keeps him busy for hours

He is super cute, but its kinda like raising a teenager. He sleeps all the time, whines if he has to do anything he doesn't want to, like pee outside when its hot, and he is always eating.

Mesquite

We recently moved to the lovely /interesting Mesquite Nevada. I got a job as a Speech Pathologist, and Travis will be going to Dixie to finish his degree in computers. We are renting a townhouse, which is a wonderful step up from our small apartment. Everyone keeps asking me to see pictures of our new place, so here are a couple of the rooms we have unpacked. We are still decorating so don't judge to harshly, and I will post more once we get everything unpacked.

Our kitchen is great, I love that it has cupboards that are normal size and its about five times bigger than our last one. Maybe I will finally learn to cook, who knows the possibilities are endless

part of our awkwardly shaped family room, I'll post more pictures when we figure out how to arrange the furniture to make it look normal

it was bedtime for Flex while when we took the pictures

and this is Flex's room and spare bathroom, gotta love the toddler gate. Thanks Nat it been so nice while we try and house break the little guy.

Favorite Blogs

I thought I would share some of my favorite internet sites with everyone. This is usually what I am doing when I should be writing papers, or finishing lesson plans for the next day. Below, I have posted some of my all time fav pics from the fail blog, lol dogs, and graph jam.

Its sad how true this graph is

I think who ever created this graph lives in Las Vegas

Its hard to see, but the guy who wrote this check put an equation in for the amount, and some math wiz figured it out, and the check is approximately made out for $536.49. The best part is what he wrote in the memo section.

Remind you of anyone Nat?

Anyways, if you're is bored and wants some laughs check out these sites:

Nelson's Landing

A friend told the family about a fun fishing spot called Nelson's landing, so we decided to go check it out and have a picnic. On the way we passed an awesome little town called Nelson. Travis and I are thinking about moving there, we would fit right in and I'm sure rent wouldn't be to high.

Here are some of the lovely houses in Nelson, Trav and I probably wouldn't even have to rent anymore we could be proud home owners.

It even has a lot of green bushes. I could look out my window and pretend I am back in Idaho.

They forgot to include population which I'm guessing is somewhere around 10, possibly 12

Once we finally got to Nelson's landing, which required a long hike in the Vegas sun, we found that it was mostly cliffs which made it too difficult to get close to the water and fish. It does however looks like a fun place to go cliff jumping so we might have to come back and go swimming one afternoon.

After Nelson Landing, we decided to go check out Lake Mead, and ending up spending the rest of the afternoon relaxing, eating, and watching the sail boats.

All-in-all it was a fun trip, and it has convinced Travis that we need to get some jet ski's so we can really enjoy Lake Mead.

Idaho Trip

That is one happy grandma

Here we are going for a walk in the lovely green Utah

This is my brother Steve holding Ethan. He makes the best faces, my favorite is his serious thinking face, when he is listening to everything going on around him.

A picture of my grandparents as we are driving away, I hope I can go back soon.
The black puppy is a border collie named Roxy who was lots of fun to play with, and the brown dog walking away is Hershey, a fat but happy lab. I can't wait to start my dog farm soon

Picture before we left, notice how everything is green

Picture of the snake river, its so pretty in Idaho!

This is the Twin Falls bridge. It is legal to base jump off of it, and while I don't have a picture we did get to see two people jump off. It looks like a rush, but way too scary for me.

This is a picture of one raspberry patch. It took us several days to weed, and cut out the dead stalks. Raspberries are yummy, but a lot of work.

The week after graduation, I went up to Idaho with my mom and brother to visit my grandparents and brand new nephew Ethan. Both Utah and Idaho were so green and pretty, I didn't want to leave and come back to the desert. Ethan is the newest Jenkins, born on April 23rd, to my Brother and sis-in-law Steve and Diana. We are so excited to have him in the family, and I can't wait to see him again. I didn't realize how attached I would get in just the few days we visited. After several days in Utah, we went up to Idaho and visited my grandparents. I haven't been able to visit their house in Idaho in almost seven years, so it was really fun to visit and see how things had changed. Most of our time was spent working in the yard, they have a big beautiful yard, and an enormous raspberry patch. My love of gardening and being outside, comes from many many childhood experiences playing and working in their yard. I also made some friends with the neighbor dogs, I think I will add border collie to my future dog farm now.
